for all your foreign language requirements - a translation service you can trust
Translation with a Difference
Smallworld was set up in 1990 to provide high quality, cost-effective translation services for pharmaceutical and medical clients.
We now work regularly on promotional and technical literature for medical and pharmaceutical companies both in the UK and abroad, producing many thousands of words into and out of foreign languages.
We currently employ four full-time in-house production staff coordinating all manner of complex multilingual translation projects to tight deadlines.
We have access to over 250 experienced, qualified freelance writers based both in the UK and abroad. We also have working arrangements with specialist agencies in Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
We also provide DTP and typesetting services in all the above languages as well as proofreading, verification and consecutive or simultaneous interpreters.
We specialise in two aspects of pharmaceutical translation production at Smallworld. Firstly we act as project managers. We take responsibility for all aspects of translation production, from the choice of the appropriate translator to supplying the final formatted copies.
This process is carried out by a designated manager in-house at Smallworld who will be the point of contact for both client and suppliers. They will co-ordinate production schedules to ensure all work is completed to a mutually agreed deadline.
Since we have access to a large group of tried and tested suppliers, we can produce large amounts of text in a very short space of time. Where work is split between several writers, we nominate a head writer to act as a reference point for the rest of the team. We also generate company specific glossaries and use any existing approved reference materials as the basis for new translation.
Secondly, we use our linguistic expertise to ensure that the translation provided is of a standard fully acceptable to the appropriate licensing authorities.
All of our translators have academic qualifications and practical translation experience. Many of them have worked in the pharmaceutical industry and are members of the appropriate professional translators?association. All work is checked a second time in-house on receipt from the initial translator. We also ensure that the work is formatted in an appropriate manner for presentation to the regulatory authorities using the standard approved terminology and EMEA templates.
